Allergen safety, taken seriously
Under UK food law, mandatory allergen information must be accurate, available and easily accessible to every customer. For distance selling — orders placed online or by phone — it must be available before purchase and at delivery. This page explains exactly how Revly helps your business meet those duties.
How our digital menus handle allergens
• Dish-level allergen structure. Every dish can carry its own allergen information, clearly written, not buried in a PDF the customer has to download.
• Always available. The menu lives on your customer’s phone — they can check ingredients while ordering, while waiting, or before they order at the counter. No asking a busy member of staff first.
• Updated in seconds. Recipe changed? Supplier swapped? The allergen information updates the moment you tell us — stale menus are how allergen mistakes happen.
• Readable by design. Large text, strong colour contrast, and screen-reader friendly layouts — accessibility is built in, not bolted on.
• Non-digital fallback. Printed allergen information is always available on request. Digital never fully replaces paper for customers who need it.
A visible allergy notice
Every Revly menu carries a clear allergy and intolerance notice telling customers to speak to staff about severe allergies before ordering. It’s the last thing we’d ever hide.
Who is responsible for what
Your business remains legally responsible for the accuracy of the food information it provides. Revly’s job is to make staying accurate easy: a clear structure, fast updates, and an editable written allergen record for every dish. We are not a substitute for your food-safety procedures — we’re the tool that keeps your customer-facing information current.
Guidance is based on the UK Food Standards Agency’s requirements on providing allergen information. For authoritative advice, see the Food Standards Agency or your local authority.
